GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION: RANGE Cooks - French Polynesia - Pitcairn; ?Palmyra

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Native, Endemic of se.Polynesia; S.Group - common; N.Group common; Land, lowlands; larvae in rotting coconuts

KEY FEATURES: Fly 6-7mmBL. HEAD cream with 3 dark red-brown bars between the eyes. THORAX dark red-brown, sides cream with dark median stripe. WINGS fine brown network leaving many clear windows. ABDOMEN dark red-brown. LARVA greenish-blue in rotten coconut flesh.
