Habitat Habitats vary widely, most common in wet to mesic environments. Most restricted in range: D. herbstobatae, D. pauciflorula, D. sherffiana (O‘ahu); D. imbricata, D. knudsenii, D. laevigata, D. latifolia, D. microcephala, D. paleata, D. pauciflorula, D. platyphylla, D. raillardioides, D. waialealae (Kaua‘i); D. dolosa, D. menziesii, D. reticulata (Maui); D. arborea, D. ciliolata (Hawai‘i). Other species on more than one island: D. laxa (Kaua‘i, O‘ahu, Moloka‘i, Maui, Lāni‘i); D. scabra and D. linearis (Moloka‘i, Lāni‘i, Maui, Hawai‘i); D. plantaginea (Moloka‘i, Lāni‘i, Maui, Hawai‘i, Kaua‘i, O‘ahu) (Wagner et al. 1990:292–308).
