Comments:
Kanoa. This is a handmade kou (Cordia subcordata) wood bowl with a flat bottom and a traditional finish. It is recorded as being a bowl used to prepare and serve awa (Piper methysticum). Similar to #00418, 00555, 00558. There is awa residue in interior & 4 insect holes. Top edge angles downward to smaller base: 16.3 cm (diam). Max rim width: 0.5 cm; bowl depth approx: 9.8 cm.
