Comments:
 This makau is made of ea (Eretmochelys imbricata) shell and is of a dark brown color interspersed with orange patches. It follows a typical Hawaiian form with an incurved point and low outer barb. A museum catalogue number has been printed on one side of the fishhook. Some of the original cordage at the top of the shank remains.
