Shell (turtle), plant (olona)
5.9 x 3.3 cm
This makau is made of ea (Eretmochelys imbricata) shell and is dark brown in color. It follows a typical Hawaiian form with an incurved point and low outer barb. Some olona (Touchardia latifolia) cordage is still attached to the top of the shank, and a museum catalogue number has been printed on one side of the fishhook.
