Shell (turtle), plant (olona)
6.5 x 3.9 cm
This makau is made of ea (Eretmochelys imbricata) shell and is dark brown and orange in color. It follows a typical Hawaiian form with an incurved point and low outer barb. The original olona (Touchardia latifolia) line remains attached to the shank, and a museum catalogue number has been printed on one side of the fishhook.
