Ivory, plant (olona fiber)

This makau is made of ivory and follows a typical Hawaiian form with an incurved point and low outer barb. The original two-ply olona (Touchardia latifolia) cordage remains attached to the shank, and a museum catalogue number has been printed on one side of the fishhook.
