Comments:
 Newa bought from Pila Poheepali in Kailua, Hawaii on September 21, 1884 for $6. Pila got it from Keawehookino in 1854, who was the grandfather of his wife Keawehunahala whom he married in 1852. This old man was the konohiki of the ahupuaa of Kalaoko in N. Kona, and he obtained the curio froma lua huna. Not regurlarly used in warfare but it is a concealed weapon offensive or defensive, which was very much used in olden times. (Emerson) A hole in the apex, diameter 0.6 cm, has been broken, and another hole has been drilled below it through which a twisted olona cord, 30 cm long, is attached to the weapon. Draeger (1977: OP 62) reported that care had been taken to achieve balance and proportion with this weapon. Length 20.3 cm, maximum width 11.4 cm, weight 822 g. Figure 208. (Summers).
