Comments:
Stone newa bought by M. P. Ailau from William Charman of Koloa, Kauai. William bought it from an old fisherman of Koloa, Kauai. (Emerson) Lenth 19.8 cm, maximum width 8.6 cm, weight 1020 g. Figure 217. (Summers) This club is well made; symmetry has not been achieved, but this is deliberate; proportion is good. Fashioned by grinding, a quadri-faceted cusp point rests atop the head dome and is well executed. This club is well balanced and handles well in a series of fast, accurate, continuous movements. (Draeger 1977: OP 404)
