Comments:
This hat is made of lau hala (Pandanus tectorius). The leaves were prepared, stripped and woven as a single piece known as the Kona style. The center of the crown, called the piko, is made up of a single piko design. The rest of the hat is woven in the maka oeno twill weave with five sections of twill patterned weave. Three sections of patterned weave appear on the sides of the crown and two appear on the brim.
