Papale ie. This hat is made of pua ko, sugar cane (Saccharum officinarum) tassel. The stem of the inflorescence was stripped, plaited into a long braid and sewn together to form the hat. A fancy edge was woven on one side of the braid to create the elaborate design. The hatband of purple and yellow feathers is made to look like flowers lei.
