Comments:
 Five-stringed lute (Satsuma biwa). Large, oval sound box with a rounded bottom. Made of wood (paulownia, zelkova, and bamboo) and carved pieces of bone. Similar to 1977.508.001A, but larger in size and with five strings, instead of four. Used by Mr. Shiugeru Shigemura ca. 1918. Ref. to Pitch pipe (1978.051).
