Comments:
Papale ie. This hat is made of peacock quills. Mrs. Donald Woodrum, Elsie Krassas's daughter, said that the quills were split and woven. The braid was rolled into coils about the size of dinner plates. Six to eight coils were needed to make the hat. It was also said to be the only known hat of its kind to exist. A lady from a Kaimuki estate brought the old peacock braid to Mrs. Krassas in the 1960's to have them made into a hat, but died before it was ready.
