Comments:
This quilt pattern is an arrangement of vases and flowers, surrounding a central design that includes four crowns. This quilt uses a number of traditional American techniques- the piecing of the separate designs and use of several colors. However, the Hawaiian influence is evident in the crown motif. The quilt is superbly appliqued an the contour quilting pattern changes throughout the quilt. Square corners present with red piping along edges. Donor's great aunt, Annie Phelps, made this quilt, and according to family stories, was a childhood friend of Lili'uokalani.
