Comments:
This hat is made of lau hala (Pandanus tectorius). The leaves were prepared, stripped and woven as a single piece known as the Kona style. The center of the crown, called the piko, is made up of two piko designs. The rest of the hat is woven in the maka oeno twill weave. Five sections of twill pattern are woven on the hat, three sections on the crown and two sections on the brim. It has a high crown with a short brim.
