Comments:
 This hat is made of lau hala (Pandanus tectorius) with a tortoise shell bill. The center of the crown, known as the piko, is made of two piko designs. The rest of the crown is woven using maka oeno, twill weave. The turtle shell bill was broken and mended with tape. It was found in an old building in Kailua-Kona in the early 1970s. The crown of hat has been finished with a clear coat of varnish.
