Comments:
 This hat fragment is made of split iwaiwa, maidenhair fern (adiantum spp.). The stems were prepared, split and woven as a single piece known as the Kona style. It was woven using maka oeno, 2/2 twill weave. Five sections of patterned weave can still be seen; two sections on the crown and three on the brim. This fragment was collected by Dr. Emory from Mrs. E. J. Walker in November of 1920.
