Comments:
 This ipu heke, gourd drum, belonged to Ua, the court chanter for Kamehameha III, IV and V. Shortly after Kamehameha V passed away, Ua died and passed the ipu on to his daughter, Pilahi Kaleimamahu. Pilahi gave it to Carrie J. Robinson who cared for the ipu in her home until she gifted it to the museum. It has cracks on its upper half that have been sewn closed with cordage. A cloth handle suspends from two holes in its side.
