COMMON NAMES: Twospot Bristletooth

GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION: NATIVE e.Africa - Tuamotu; n. to s.Japan; s. to Rarotonga

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Native; S.Group - Rarotonga to date; Marine, near-shore, outer reef-slope, 10-50m; over rubble

KEY FEATURES: To 22cmSL. Orange-brown with narrow blue lines on body, and blue spots on face and cheeks and throat; iris blue; a small black spot at the posterior base of the Dorsal and Anal Fins; Tail dark brown. JUVENILE similar except darker brown with orange tail.
