SiteType: Agricultural terraces. On both sides of the Waimea River are seen remnants of terraces used for agricultural purposes; some appear to have been irrigated. They vary in size according to available land. In height, they average c. two feet. Some remains suggest house sites or larger structures. Valley is said to have been thickly populated until a disastrous flood in the latter part of the nineteenth cemtury.
