SiteType: This site consisted of many natural sinkholes in the Karsstic landscape, some utilized for pre-contact agriculture with sparse midden, others used during WW II training exercises or as a recent trash dump. Fragments of an early 1800's cattle wall cross the site roughly east/west, while a contact-period house foundation and l930's railroad camp debrie are located in the southeast corner of the property. Extinct bird bones in some of the sinkholes suggests pre-Polynesian nesting in the area as well. Only one burial of a modern dog was found, although a human bone fragment being reworked into a fishhook was located in one sinkhole. Site prehistoric/historic. no dating, volcanic glass present, midden and artifacts collected. Note: Construction of a state low-income housing facility may impact all but the southeast corner of the site.
