SiteType: Workshop; a concentration of diagnostic basalt flakes (flakes exhibiting a striking platform and a bulb of percussion), indicative of adz manufacture, in a 18-square meter depression of sand by lava outcrops, located c. 30m from crater rim. Maximum flake density is 700 flakes/square meter. Largest flake is 5 x 9 x 2.5cm. Basalt flakes scattered in very low concentrations throughout the area surrounding Site MH-96. ARTIFACTS.
