Hina‘i, woven baskets, reached a high level of sophisitcation in Hawai‘i. The aerial roots of ‘ie‘ie (Freycinetia arborea) were gathered and specially prepared for weaving. A number of different types and shapes of baskets were fashioned to serve a wide variety of functions.
